Film-makers from around the world will be in Marbella for the town’s 10th festival this October.

MARBELLA, Hundreds of film fanatics are expected to descend on Marbella for the town’s International film festival to be held from 7 to 11th October 2015, A red carpet will be rolled out during the five-day movie extravaganza that will see more than 50 independent films screened at the newly refurbished Teatro Goya in Puerto Banus.
The festival will be packed with features, animations, documentaries and world premieres from countries including Japan, Panama, the USA, the UK, Russia, Israel and Spain.
To help celebrate the l0th anniversary, this year will also see a number of world and European premieres including British films ‘Rise of the Krays’, ‘North VS South’ and ‘Arthur & Merlin’. While American romantic comedy ‘Casual Encounters’ will also get its first screening at the festival. Festival Director Mac Chakaveh, told SUR in English: “Over the past decade, MIFF has become one of the most respected and well-known independent film festivals, attracting film-makers and industry professionals from all over the world.
With the support of our sponsors, our associates and our volunteers we have managed to attract many projects to Marbella, which no doubt promoted the cultural opportunities in the region, while continuing to provide commercial opportunities for all sectors of the local economy.”
Films are screened in their original language with English subtitles, or if they are already in English, Spanish subtitles are displayed. During the five-day film frenzy a number of workshops, seminars and networking events will be held at the H lO Andalucía Plaza Hotel. The event ends with a glitzy Gala Awards Dinner, where guests dress in black tie and sleek dresses to enjoy cocktails, live music and the closing ceremony, at the H lO hotel on Sunday 11 October.
